Lance Armstrong Foundation

Lance Armstrong Foundation The Lance Armstrong Foundation is a registered nonprofit organization located in Austin, Texas that inspires and empowers people with cancer. Founded in 1997 by cancer survivor and champion cyclist, Lance Armstrong, the LAF believes that in the battle with cancer, unity is strength, knowledge is power and attitude is everything. The LAF provides the practical information and tools people with cancer need to live life on their own terms. The foundation also takes aim at the gaps between what is known and what is done to prevent suffering and death due to cancer. The LAF unites people to fight cancer and pursue an agenda focused on, prevention, access to screening and care, improvement of the quality of life for cancer survivors and investment in research. The organization further encourages and supports grassroots fundraisers that support research on cancer eradication, prevention, and promotion of the strength to live and survive with cancer. Wirefly’s promotion of grassroots fundraisers that collect used cell phones is in line with this goal of the LAF.
